- This Californian pub offers traditional bar food turned gourmet like Belgian ale-steamed mussels, wood grilled rib eye, and a leek and goat cheese tart. Melrose hipsters usually go for the cheap-by-the-glass wine list and the boutique beer selection while locals go for the community table (it holds up to ten), and naturally people stop in for people watching. Everything on the menu is freshly prepared and inexpensive considering the Melrose Avenue location. The Village Idiot is anything but idiotic and is perfect for a pleasant evening out.
