  • There is Thai food everywhere in Los Angeles! Thanks to this abundance, diverse types of Thai cuisine are available here. Be assured there is much more to Thai food than just Pad Thai, and bless your heart for even conceiving such a notion!

    Southern Thai food, featuring a lot of seafood and tumeric, is well-represented in Los Angeles by the now famous Jitlada. A little research before-hand is well-advised to make sense of the wide array of specialized dishes on the menu here.

    Northern Thai food (with its Burmese influences) is another great culinary boon to residents and visitors here in the Los Angeles area! I am devoted to the items on the Northern Thai section of the menu at Spicy BBQ. . . in particular their Northern Thai Egg Noodles (Khao soi) are very satisfying. Sompun is another well-known nearby Northen Thai place.

    Two distinctly Thai neighborhoods, with a correlating wealth of Thai restaurants, are worth noting: Thai Town is centered on Hollywood Boulevard roughly between Normandie and Western. Restaurants here include Jitlada (mentioned above) as well as Ruen Pair, Sanamluang Cafe, and Palms Thai.

    Another Thai neighborhood is in the San Fernando Valley on Sherman Way near the intersection with Coldwater Canyon Ave. Krua Thai is just one of the many good Thai restaurants in this area. Farther north from here on Coldwater Canyon Ave, the Wat Thai Temple is famous for its food stalls (open during limited hours on the weekend).

    Of course, there are notable restaurants no-where near these particular neighborhoods. For example, Araya Thai Cuisine is a favorite Thai restaurant located in Inglewood near the LAX airport.
