At the end of the day, Los Angeles means so many different things to different people. The one thing you can count on is the diversity of this city and the great weather. This list collects some rarely mentioned Los Angeles destinations that may be able to provide you with an interesting adventure.
This list starts of with Lake Hollywood, a reservoir hidden in the Hollywood hills. The first adventure is finding this place, as the hillside streets leading to it are curvy and challenging to navigate! Once you find your way there, there is a nice path circumnavigating the scenic lake.
Other Hollywood destinations listed here are the Hollywood Forever Cemetery and the Hollywood Bowl. Hollywood Forever is both tourist friendly and expansive; other famous cemeteries are referenced on this cemetery guide. During the daytime when the historic Hollywood Bowl is not being used as a music venue, it is open to public as a park; if you do pay to see a concert here, you are allowed to bring in food and alcohol.
Sites at or near the ocean are include here as well. Solstice Canyon is a popular short hike that leads to the picturesque ruins of a sprawling house right on a bubbling stream. Once you are out in Malibu, you are close to many other well-known destinations, including the famous Zuma Beach, more short hikes at Point Dume, and the high-end shopping at the Malibu Country Mart/Lumberyard.
I have also included the Venice Beach Ocean Front Walk. Adventure is in the air here at this well-known stretch of beach populated by muscle-builders, roller-skaters, hippies, and a whole assortment of humanity
Los Angeles is a huge hodge-podge of diverse stuff. Just dining here in an adventure to start with. And don't forget the desert which surrounds the city and holds all sort of strange destinations. For more wacky places also check out this Offbeat Los Angeles Guide.
