Miracle Mile/Fairfax District

In the 1920's, developer A.W. Ross built up the Miracle Mile district of Los Angeles as an alternative to Downtown L.A., making it automobile-friendly, with retailers and parking lots. Business boomed in this area throughout the 1940's and 50's, but lessened in the 60's due to Downtown resurgence and Century City.

Miracle Mile's popular "Museum Row" boasts the Petersen Automotive Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Architecture and Design Museum, and La Brea Tar Pits and Page Museum. Today, Miracle Mile and its surrounding areas are home to some of the most affluent families in the city. A large Jewish population lives along Highland Avenue and neighboring Hancock Park. Hungry? Check out amazing restaurants like Mozza, La Brea Bakery, and Campanile.

Notable businesses calling Miracle Mile their headquarters include Variety and E! Entertainment. Excited about architecture? Many buildings along Miracle Mile exhibit Art Deco, Streamline Modern, and Spanish Revival Styles. The Grove, situated at Fairfax and Third, provides the ultimate experience in outdoor shopping and dining options at the adjoining Farmer's Market. © NileGuide
