Orange County
Few can argue that Disneyland, debuted in 1955, is the sine qua non of Orange County. Tourism, oil, and the aerospace industry have all fuel massive growth in the region throughout the 1960's until today. Beneath the mousey veneer, there are a number of activities that families and visitors can enjoy, from breathtaking beaches to a vibrant nightlife.
MTV's "Laguna Beach" reality television show shined a massive spotlight on Orange County's gorgeous beaches. Learning to surf? Head to Huntington Beach, aka Surf City USA, to catch some waves. Newport Beach is one of the most affluent cities in the nation and has the largest recreational boat harbor on the U.S. West Coast. Orange County is Suburbia at its most luxurious.
Shoppers love to spend money at upscale shopping destinations like South Coast Plaza which houses designer brands like Fendi and Gucci and Newport's Fashion Island boasting boutiques like Ella Moss and Jack Spade. Searching for tasty seafood? Look no further than Bluewater Grill, Joe's Crab Shack, or The Cannery Newport for a fishy feast.
