- 18th Street Art Center is a compact enclave of artists' studios encompassing a two-block area in a predominantly residential neighborhood of Santa Monica. Amongst its numerous artistic and cultural exchange efforts, educational programs and community work, the Art Center also throws seasonal parties. These are multi-faceted events, featuring a gamut of attractions which include bands and DJs, gourmet food trucks, alternative health and lifestyle demonstrations, curio functions (such as a classic hotrod roundup), along with a conglomerate of exhibits and installations and challenging performances/readings. An open house runs in the background, where visitors may rub elbows with resident artists and purchase, or even commission, work from them.
