- Two decades after the formation of the Los Angeles-Orange County State College in 1949, the City of Long Beach took up the responsibility of exclusively educating the Long Beach students by starting an autonomous university of its own. Today the college offers courses in art, management and science along with gaining the prestigious recognition of having the best campus facilities amongst other universities in and around the area. Venues such as the University Art Museum attracts visitors to see the development of art and provides students an outlet to showcase their talent.
