Cardiff Tower

• The Cardiff oil pumping station looks very much like a synagogue tower.  This appearance helps the site maintain a low profile in this predominantly Jewish neighborhood. 40 active wells here pump around 260,000 barrels of oil a year here; Breitburn Energy owns this property. (Breitburn is a company that buys up mature wells and uses computer modeling technology to draw more oil from them.)
  
  This section of W. Pico Boulevard is also home to a whole cluster of kosher restaurants and markets. You can get anything kosher here including pizza, chinese food, roasted chicken. . .
