Lowes State Theatre - Los Angeles

  • Description:

    • Showbiz history is contained within the walls of this classic theater. Built in 1921 as part of the once-huge chain of MGM theaters, this was the site of Judy Garland's L.A. debut in 1929. During that era, the theater accommodated both films and vaudeville, which were embellished by either a live orchestra or chorus line. Today, the L.A. Conservancy visits the theater on its Historic Broadway walking tour, given each Saturday of the month. Call for reservations and details.
