You walk in tense and stiff and walk out a happy noodle. The family-run Pho-Siam Thai Spa is located near Downtown L.A. at the south end of Echo Park and staffed by a group of Thai women who are well-trained in the art of Thai massage. For a mere $40 your body will undergo 60 minutes of such indulgence that you'll be planning a vacation to Thailand by the time you're done. Foot massages, waxes, facials, and couples massages are offered as well, but for the ultimate indulgence request the 3-hour mega-massage, a bargain at $120. Walk-ins are welcome, but it's better to call and make an appointment, and be sure to tell the owner, Mr. Chao (the sweetest man you'll ever meet), that Matthew from Frommer's says hello.
