Point Fermin Park - Los Angeles
  • Type: Picnics, Parks & Gardens
  • NileGuide Expert tip:

If you are feeling brave and intrepid you can head east from the park (around the fences and past the forbidding signs) to the Sunken City, an abandoned neighborhood right here that sunk into the ocean.

  • Description:

    • This is a great place to stop during any drive on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Highlights include a Victorian lighthouse, coin-operated telescopes, a whale-watching station and an amphitheatre sometimes used for outdoor plays. Set on 37 acres, the park is set atop a cliff that provides great views of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island on a clear day. There are picnic tables and barbeque grills also. Parking: Free parking spaces are available along the perimeter of the park.
