There are many great areas to visit in Los Angeles. Beach areas that are not the most traveled are Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach. All have boardwalks and piers. Venice beach is the most famous and most visited. Another great area is the Larchmont district South of Hollywood. Old town Pasadena, Olvera street downtown and Chinatown are also cool but not overly touristy. Have fun and let me know if I can help more

Just stay away from Hollywood blvd. and Highland and you'll find cool places to go. stick to melrose and sunset ave. and you're bound to find something interesting. the archlight theatre is cool too and the amoeba record store is really close to there too. they have every kind of music even discontinued recordings that are hard to find.also do everything in your power to see the getty museum it is fantastic. if you happen to not be able to resist the urge to take a pic of the hollywood sign, go to the griffith observatory for a better view and a chance to look at the stars. you have to call ahead by a day at least to get on the shuttle for that. have fun! by the way you should come to palm springs/indian wells the tennis players are here for the week and celebs are all out like an open faced sandwich! it's gonna be a great weekend.
