Derby Festival Marathon

Description:

• With the miniMarathon (it's a half marathon) celebrating its 38th year in 2011 and the full marathon its 10th, the Derby Festival Marathon draws runners from across the country to Louisville. Held the Saturday before Derby, the race starts and ends downtown, near Slugger Field. Both routes go through Churchill Downs, with those running the full marathon heading further south into Iroquois Park. Both races start at 7:30 AM.
  
  Those interested in running the race, cheering on runners, or simply avoiding traffic troubles stemming from the marathon route should visit the official marathon site for the course map and information for fans. If you're near the finish line, head over to the Chow Wagon and Fest-a-Ville after the race.
