NileGuide Expert tip:
If you want a photo with Colonel Sanders, you can go here or visit his grave.
Description:
- If it's your first time in Louisville and you're downtown, stop by the Louisville Visitors Center at the corner of Fourth and Jefferson Streets. There, in addition to shopping for Louisville-centric gifts, you can take your picture with a Colonel Sanders mannequin who's holding a bucket of KFC (is there a better souvenir?). The staff can answers all your questions on what to visit, where to eat, and the best way to get there. If you're thinking of tackling the Urban Bourbon Trail, you can pick up a passport here. They also have bus passes, "smart cards" for PARC garages (Parking Authority of River City), and discounted tickets to attractions like the Louisville Zoo, the Muhammad Ali Center, the Speed Art Museum, and the Frazier History Museum. Interested in a walking tour? Rent an iPod from the Visitors Center between May and October and go at your own pace, or join a free volunteer-led tour on a Friday or Saturday at 2 p.m. Call 502 379-6109 a day in advance to reserve a spot or for any questions.
