Sheraton Luxor

• At the low end of its class in terms of price, the Sheraton offers good value for money. One of its nicest features is its location -- most of its competition either backs onto a busy road or looks over it, but the Sheraton is surrounded by gardens and fronts the Nile. The result is a quiet and very relaxing atmosphere. The architecture, which is supposed to mirror a cruise ship, isn't going to win any awards (frankly, it looks like it was built out of LEGO blocks), and though the fit and finish of the rooms aren't quite up to the Steigenberger standard, they're acceptable on the whole. The other thing that the Sheraton does well -- and this goes for most of its facilities in Egypt -- is friendly, relaxed service. If you're looking for a five-star chain hotel at a decent price, this would be my recommendation in Luxor.
