Description:

Housed in France's first major building construction without pillars - designed with a Roman theatre in mind - the Auditorium Maurice Ravel was opened in 1975 in the heart of Lyon's modern Part-Dieu area and was later (1993 -2002) subject to extensive renovations, which included sound and lighting modifications that have resulted in the auditorium now being rated as one of the best for acoustics in France.The hall includes 2,150 seats and with such powerful acoustics, every seat offers an excellent sound experience.

The programme at Auditorium Maurice Ravel, for 2010, includes concerts from the Orchestre National de Lyon (the house orchestra), invited orchestras including Orchestre Philharmonique de Vienne, Jazz and music concerts from around the world and La Musique de Chambre et L'Organ (chamber music and the organ). For those who love cinema and music, check out the venues Ciné-Concerts, which include; Le Seigneur Des Anneaux (The Lord of the Rings) and Le Cirque de Chaplin (The Circus of Chaplin), accompanied by the Orchestre National de Lyon.

Auditorium Maurice Ravel is situated between Les Halles de Lyon and Part-Dieu shopping centre. For metro line access take line B (stop at Part-Dieu). Via the tramway take the T3 tram that stops at Part-Dieu-Villette, or T1 Tram that stops at Part-Dieu-Servient. To get there by bus, take bus C1, C3, 25, 28, 36, 37, 41, 47, 59, 70 or 99. Tickets can be purchased at the auditorium ticket office (open Monday to Friday from 10am to 6pm), by telephone credit card booking (04 78 95 95 95) or via the website.
