Located on the right bank of the River Saône, Lyon's 5th Arrondissement is the city's central tourist attracting Arrondissment, so you can expect to find plenty of restaurants in and around the area. The 5th Arrondissement includes UNESCO accredited (World Heritage) Vieux Lyon ( St-Paul, St-Jean, St-Georges), Fourvière, St-Just and St-Irénée.
Starting in Vieux Lyon (Old Lyon), Café du Soleil tops the list, owing to its unique historical surrounding, the typical 'bouchon' character of the restaurants and the quality of the typically Lyonnais dishes served there. Next, staying in Vieux Lyon, but adding a hefty dose of Brazilian spice, Le Sambahia is a lively restaurant where you can eat great Brazilian dishes while listening to live music. But if you're looking for pure French creative cooking; head to Les Adrets on the lovely Rue du Boeuf.
For those who like fun restaurants, Lyon's 5th Arrondissement proposes the Tapas club, where you can eat plates of tapas - at affordable prices - and sing 'til you're hearts content in the restaurants karaoke lounge.
Moving up the hill to Fourvière, Restaurant de Fourvière (located next to the basilica) and Simplicité are two excellent French restaurants that may be a bit more pricey than the other, but are well worth the extra.
