Top 10:

Things to Do Near Presqu'île/Second Arrondissement, Lyon, France

  • The Best of NileGuide
  • Lyon's 2nd Arrondissement (southern Presqu'île) is packed full of things to do. Coming second in line on the visitor appeal scale - second to Old Lyon in the 5th Arrondissement - the area includes: Cordeliers, Bellecour, Ainay, Perrache and the Confluent; a new and emerging area of the city.

Central to the 2nd Arrondissement, visitors will find plenty of things to do around Place Bellecour; France's and Europe's largest pedestrian square. Place Bellecour is home to Lyon's Office du Tourisme, where you can commence tours of the city, including the worthwhile Lyon City of Lights Tour, and Audio Tours can also be purchased from the Office du Tourisme; allowing visitors to discover the 2nd Arrondissement at their own pace with an MP3 guided tour.

Just next to Place Bellecour in the 2nd Arrondissement you will find the lovely Place Antonin Poncet. This picture pretty grass-covered square is a lovely place to stretch out during the summer months, and it's also surrounded by plenty of good restaurant, so you won't have far to wander once the munchies take hold.

Lyon's 2nd Arrondissement is located between the Rivers Rhône and Saône, so you can also expect to find lots of river activities in this area of town; including boat trips organised by Promenades Navig'inter, located at Quai Rimbaud. And if you'd prefer to keep your land legs, walks along both rivers are lovely in 2nd Arrondissement , particularly along the riverside stretch located in front of the magnificent Hôtel Dieu. (

Lyon's 2nd Arrondissement is served by Metro lines A and D and Tramway lines T1 and T2.
