NileGuide Expert tip:
For an alternative to the hotel's restaurants, walk five minutes' to Rue des Marronniers, where you'll find one street jam-packed with some of Lyon's best restaurants.
bar, restaurant, minibar, parking, pets-allowed, internet-available, room-service, laundry, safe-deposit, currency-exchange, car-hire, tv-in-room, air-conditioning
International Sofitel customers will be accustomed to the high 'red carpet' standards found at Sofitel hotels and the Lyon 5 star branch is no exception. The building's façade, however, is in need of a face lift and looks a bit tired by Sofitel standards. The Penthouse bar and restaurant have recently been renovated, offering fresh surroundings and some wonderful views of the city and the river Rhône.
The interior of the hotel is chic and modern. 'Zen' appears to be the fashionable word to describe this type of interior design, but even if the interior doesn't make you feel particularly 'zen', the five star treatment and amenities probably will. The hotel features an award winning Michelin starred restaurant, 'Les Trois Dômes', which has recently been renovated. 'Les Trois Dômes' - on the 8th floor - is the place to taste some sophisticated Lyonnaise specialities while enjoying the special view over the river Rhône. The Sofitel Lyon also includes the more casual 'Brasserie Silk', which offers an extensive selection of French fare. Other amenities of the hotel include the 'zen' fitness spa, the Melhor and Lobby bars, 24 hour room service, wifi, car-hire, a solarium and beauty salon.
The hotel is situated in a prime location for walking excursions to other parts of the city. Place Bellecour is just a few minutes' walk away from the hotel, Place Terreaux; about ten minutes' walk and the river Rhône is just across the road. The dual carriageway road - between the hotel and the Rhône – may, however, prove to disappoint some guests.
