Located on the historically significant Rue Du Bât-d'Argent - just off the bustling Rue de la République – restaurant Caro de Lyon has made a name for itself in Lyon by offering high quality cuisine amidst intimate and friendly surroundings. A variety of well-considered dining furniture - including classic green booth-style seating – sets the tone of the 180 capacity interior, while the soft table lamps, period paintings and ceiling high book shelves create an ambiance of aesthetic intelligence.The menu at Caro de Lyon is extensive and includes highly refined French and Lyonnaise dishes, with the creative addition of some subtle foreign influences. To give a taster of the sophisticated dishes on offer; 'velouté crémeux de potiron aux rognons et crétes de coqs' (creamy pumpkin veloute with kidney and cockscomb) and 'pressé de lapin aux figues, julienne de carrottes juane et rouge en salade de mesclun, compotée d'oignons cofits aux miel' (rabbit with figs, yellow julienne caorrots, mesclun salad and stewed onions in honey) are two popular dishes on offer.
The menu includes a selection of single main meals, which are priced mainly between 16 and 35 euros (there are also some other more expensive main meals) and three course set menus are priced at 29, 31 and 43 euros. The restaurant also includes a varied wine list, including a number of choices that go beyond the usual Cote du Rhone or Beaujolais.
