The Best of NileGuide
- The fun in Macau doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. Some even argue that that’s when it starts. Bars, clubs, lounges and live music venues—it’s all reason for us to put our dancing shoes on and raise to toast to Macau. Will you join in? Macau is increasingly becoming a popular destination for stag parties and most are drawn by the lure of the casino. The casinos also have several bars and restaurants so for many there is little reason to leave. They are open 24 hours and it is not unusual to see bleary-eyed gamblers appearing from them late in the morning. However, there is plenty to do in Macau aside from gambling. The Venetian is also home to the Circque du Soleil’s popular show Zaia and it is also a destination for many concerts. Performers who have visited the resort in the past include The Pussycat Dolls, Rain, The Police, and Linkin Park. For a list of up and coming events check out the Venetian Macau's website. South of Avinida de Amizade you can find a local bar scene, although it doesn’t compare to the nightlife of its neighbour Hong Kong. Senado Square is a popular area for nightlife. Restaurants, bars and cafes dominate the area and there are also little clothing stores to pop into after dark. Nightclub’s Club Cubic and D2 can be found on Avenida Commercial de Macau, Face Disco is on Avenida da Praia Grande, Fashion Club is on Fisherman’s Wharf and Show Time Restaurant and Karaoke is on Rua De Cantao Edf. Karaoke is a popular activity in Macau, the Cave Karaoke Lounge is a good bet if you're up for crooning the night away. Like its neighbor Hong Kong, Macau has a large horseracing scene and races are held during the week in Taipa. From June to August races are held in the evening and start around 7pm. The great news is that entrance is free for the ground and first floor stands, and the minimum bet is $10 – perfect if you’re on a budget.
