  • Madrid, Spain is a major European destination for art, food, and fun, but at the same time, Madrid is Western Europe's most budget-friendly capital. You definitely won't see London and Paris prices here! Madrileños know that you don't have to spend an arm and a leg to eat well and have a good time, as the restaurants on our list of top 10 cheap restaurants in Madrid prove time and again. For starters, you can turn to our top choice, 100 Montaditos, for plates of inexpensive Spanish sandwiches served with chips and usually washed down with beer. The place is a fun and casual chain but the Spanish style décor is actually rather elegant, and true to its name, 100 Montaditos has one hundred sandwiches to choose from. You can also pick up some good, cheap Italian food at our second choice, the casual little place with the great name, La Vita e Bella. They have locations in Madrid's more happening neighborhoods, which is especially convenient for a quick bite before or after an evening drink. Comme-Bio, our third choice, offers up high quality "ecological" food - some vegetarian, some not - in a rather relaxed (in a neutral way, not a hippie way) cafeteria style setting. Then our fourth choice for cheap restaurants, Rodilla, is a Spanish fast food chain - but of a higher quality than its peers - and serves sandwiches, salads, and wraps.
