Top 10:

Kid-friendly Things to Do in Madrid

  • The Best of NileGuide
  • When it comes to keeping the kids (as well as their parents) amused and entertained, Madrid offers a number of exciting and educational kid friendly activities. Some were designed with kids specifically in mind, like Faunia, while others are just plain all ages fun, like the Teleférico gondola.

Our number one pick was chosen for its family fun factor. For a day trip just outside of Madrid, Parque Warner Madrid – Spain's equivalent to Disneyland Paris – is a world unto itself. With roller coasters (big and small), shows and movie-related exhibits with cartoon characters and film heroes, Parque Warner Madrid lets the kids burn off some steam and gives the parents a break when museums start to lose their luster.

Our second pick is especially good for smaller children. Equal parts zoo, biological park, and theme park, Faunia has lots of cute animals (and not so cute animals) to teach kids and their parents about ecosystems and the natural kingdom.

At number three, the Teleférico gondola ride is a pleasant way to get a little perspective on parts on the city – although mainly green parkland. Starting in Parque del Oeste, the Teleférico cabins travel to the top of a hill in the Casa del Campo park, which is a perfect spot for picnicking. However, if you don't feel like staying, you can easily hop back on for a return trip.

Our number four pick was chosen with the older kids in mind. As the home of Spain's premier soccer team Real Madrid, Santiago Bernabeú stadium is the place for young sports fans to cheer with the best of them.
