Description:
Out in the sticks some 8km (5 miles) south of town and just next to the Mae Surin National Park, the Fern Resort rests in a quiet valley along a rushing stream and promises comfort and harmony with nature. Tai Yai (Shan)-style bungalows have simple but comfortable local-style furnishings like tong tueng leaf roofs, glass windows, and doors; bathrooms offer slate-tiled showers with hot water. They have good trail maps of the immediate area and the resort's friendly troupe of dogs will accompany you on a self-guided tour (borrow a walking stick and just follow the pups). Experienced human guides are also available for more extensive treks. Fern's restaurant offers local Thai and international cuisine, or you can ride the shuttle to town (thrice daily) to dine at their in-town restaurant.

The cabins are lovely and comfortable, there are lots of walks through the woods, and there's a rice paddy right in the middle of the resort. I definitely recommend.
