Museo Unicaja de Artes Populares

Description:

  • Come here to learn a little more about the capital and its people. Museo Unicaja de Artes Populares houses a multitude of objects used from the 17th-20th centuries such as fishing equipment, farming implements, furniture, clothing and household items. The building dates back to the 17th century, and the historical period has been recreated in the museum. The main treasures are the ceramic figures representing popular personalities of the capital like the cenachero; a 19th century fish seller who walked the streets with baskets of fish hanging from his shoulders. There is a newspaper library and public archives as well.
