- The Majorcan Capital is active all year round; the abundant sunshine means it will always be a stellar holiday destination. Fiestas are held in Palma every year and are well organized, and you will find a flood of tourists visit the city during the famous carnivals held in February. Also tourists may visit during Easter - march to April, and May during the remembrance of the day of the Moors, and also during the feat of the devout.Aside from the clear watered beaches and fine sand shores, historians and the curious traveler will enjoy learning about the City's past, and a good place to start is at the 400 year old La Sue; It is a cathedral built in honor of the city's patron St' San Sebastian in typical Gothic style and overlooks the Parc de la Mar.The cathedral gives entrance to the Palace of Almudena, which is believed to have been originally built as a fortress in 1229. Today it is a heritage of the national museum and is open to the public. As the Romans were famous for their aqua ducts and baths among other things so too were the Arabic Moors who constructed a bath house in Palma in the 10th Century. The Baths are situated in the Can Fontirroig gardens, at number 7 of Calle Can Serra and is one of the meticulously preserved remnants of Islamic Architecture in Palma. It is open to the public from 9.30 am to 8.00 pm in the months of April through to November, and entrance is 2 Euros.The Castle of Sant Carles which defended the quay of Porto Pi from the early 17th Century when it was built and the Bellver Castle built in the 14th Century are major tourist attractions in Palma city as well; their excellent views of the bay and the city make them a perfect site to share a moment with your spouse. In addition you can also find exquisite Art works and statues at the Gothic building of the La Llotja, built in the 15th Century as a barter market buy Guillermo Sagrera; it is situated west of the La sue cathedral. And after all the sight seeing and trips into the past, you may take a trip to the many amusement parks in Palma; you can start at Marine Land situated at Calvia's Costa d'en Blanes beach. It hosts dolphin, sea lions, and parrot shows to entertain families. It also has a reptile house and a penguin pool with a collection of various animals. The park is open January to December, with gates open during summer from 9.30 am to 6.00 pm and all other months open till 5.00 pm. Prices for adults are 22 Euros and 16 Euros for children.
