- The Teatro del Mar is located in the El Molinar neighbourhood, has always been rich in cultural variety. Artists, painters and writers have chosen this area as their home. The fact that the neighbourhood is one of the closest to the sea in Palma forms a strong part of the identity of this quarter, along with its theatre. The origins of the Teatro del Mar go back to the 1940s and the Sala Rex, where plays were regularly performed. The neighbourhood supported the theatre to such an extent that along with the church, they collected funds to create a splendid setting. Nowadays, the Teatro del Mar shows both plays (mostly alternative) and films (especially arthouse and experimental), music, etc.
