Metropolitan Theater

Description:

  • Dubbed a 'Theater for the People', the Metropolitan Theater has had a long history of both glory and disrepair; built in 1931, it suffered great damage during the 1945 American liberation. Since then, it has been restored multiple times; in 2010, after painstaking restoration, it was re-opened again to great reception. The theater's grandiose facade is one of the most distinctive buildings in Manila and it has a lot of sentimental value for locals as its broken facade was a painful reminder of the Battle of Manila; with its current restoration, it is a now considered a center of civic pride and is well worth a visit.
