• There's more to the latest posh hotel in the metro than just the proximity, luxury, and functionality. Situated right across NAIA Terminal 3, Marriot Hotel Manila also has one of the grandest bars that can delight the fun-loving nature of every Filipino.
  
  "It's a very new age sports bar where everyone can come and have a nice casual drink after work," describes Daryn Hudson, Director of Food and Beverage for Marriott Hotel Manila.
  
  Hudson was describing the hotel's modern contemporary sports bar called Velocity Entertainment Bar. Unlike the typical sports bar, Velocity isn't decorated with jerseys and other sports memorabilia. The Velocity is a sort of hybrid bar. It pairs the luxuries of a fine-dine establishment with the energy of a sports bar which usually emanates from its numerous large flat-screen LCDs that feature different sporting events from around the globe.
  
  The sprawling establishment, which can seat up to 200, even allows sports fans to take their pick on how to better their favorite football or basketball game. Aside from the usual bar seat, it also has comfortable booth seats that are ideal for dining and a screened-off area that serves as a sort of theater.
  
  "People can come here and expect great food that they usually find in the sports bar, like clubhouse sandwiches, chicken wings, and a little bit more of finger foods that everyone can share or match with their drinks. What sets us apart is the ambiance and we can serve a big number of people which is complemented by our menu. Here a good number of people can enjoy watching their favorite sport as well as enjoy the company of their friends while relaxing with their favorite drink," added Hudson.
  
  The sports bar is a replica of the Velocity Bar in the Marriott Hotel in Hong Kong. Even its menus were flown in from the country, but the same doesn't go for the flavors.
  
  Velocity Bar's Sticky Fried Chicken Wings and Fettucine Bolognese are apt for the Filipino market with their hints of sweetness in the palate. The other must-tries in the menu are the Triple Velocity Clubhouse and the bar's signature Velocity Burger.
  
  The Triple Velocity clubhouse is a large sandwich of crisp bacon, smoked chicken, and tomatoes. The sandwich is good enough to serve four people or a very hungry twosome. The Velocity Burger is made up of blue cheese, bacon, and a hefty burger patty.
  
  Good food needs great drinks which are also numerous in Velocity. Aside from the different beers on tap and foreign beers that decorate the bar, the bar list (which seems to be longer than the menu) features everything from cocktails to champagne. Among the must-try drinks in the bar are the sinful Kir Royale and Caipirinha. As for the beer list, Grolsch and Amstell beers set the bar apart as these are not easily found in the metro.
  
  The Velocity Bar comes full circle every Friday as the perfect place to send off the week as it provides guests with pounding music from a live DJ.
