Public Question Asked by Virginia C. about Manila
Travel from Manila to Visayas central and west -what are the best means?
We want to get on a boat to C.Visayas from Manila and from there make our own trip to West. What places can we stay in,no need for anything fancy.Just a cabin with basic amenities will do. We prefer walking around to get a feel of the place and culture and will explore on our own. What route should we follow? If you've done a smilar tour, pls let us know ur experiences.

hi. it is very cheap now to fly from manila to Dumaguete and from there make your own way to Cebu, Bohol, and Siquijor. there are so many cheap hotels in dumaguete too. from dumaguete you can take the bus to Negros Occidental and from Bacolod City, ports are open anywhere you want to go West. let me stay if you're staying over Bacolod i can arrange a pension/hotel for you. you can take RORO boats from Bacolod to Iloilo and enjoy sailing and get to see other places as well. i can give you contact in Iloilo to tour you around or give you ideas where to go and stay in Guimaras and Antique. ;-)

From where you are now, go to www.cebupacificair.com and book manila to cebu flights this early, so you get dirt cheap fares. from cebu city, take fastcraft vessels to bohol and negros islands. in dumaguete, stay in bethel inn. go back to cebu and fly back to manila.

Hi there! Is your trip still on? You could take Superferry (Manila-Cebu) or Negros Navigation (Manila-Dumaguete).
Cebu - Toledo City - San Carlos (Negros Occ) - Bacolod - Iloilo - Roxas City - Kalibo - Caticlan - Boracay
Dumaguete - Bais - San Carlos - follow Cebu Route or head for Himamaylan - Bacolod - follow Cebu Route
Taking the bus or tricycle is good for exploration because you can eat the local fare and meet the local people. I've been to the major stops, tried the exotic food, but not a comprehensive tour of the surroundings. Best to have an open mind and open heart. The people are friendly but if they see that they can take advantage of you, some will.
For information on lodgings, transpo and food, (I intentionally didn't write them here coz the note will become very long) contact me -Gina- at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for choosing the Philippines!

take super ferry and ride tourist coach to cebu. that houses 4-6 people inside. you can choose whether to have meals included, which is suggested. when in cebu, you can transfer to the ferry port and take fast raft to any west visayas destinations. during summer, they provide discounts and free tickets. trips from major cities in the west back to cebu and vice versa are usually available until 3pm.

If you prefer to go by boat and land, RORO is the answer. Here is link for more info: http://www.travelsmart.net/RORO.htm
But if you want to see more... suggest you take Philippine Airlines to get to the major islands down south, then go island hoping by boat.

Best option would be to take the Superferry, but domestic flights are almost the same cost as boat fare, i suggest you take a plane from Manila to Cebu...and from Cebu you can take boats to the nearby islands.
what specific activities are you looking to do? how much is your budget?

IF YOU ARE NOT IN A RUSH TRAVELING THEN I SUGGEST YOU TAKE A VESSEL, THAT'S ONE DAY TRAVEL BY SEA. IF YOU WANT 45 TO AN HOUR RIDE THEN TAKE THE PLANE. THERE ARE PROMOS, DISCOUNTED AIRFARE. VISIT THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF CEBU PACIFIC PHILIPPINES FOR MORE INFOS. TRAVEL DESTINATIONS.. COOLEST SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE : 1.CAMIGUIN - LESS EXPLORED** ATTRACTIVE BEACHES & SCENERIES FOOD & FESTIVITIES, 2. EL NIDO PALAWAN - AGAIN, THE BEST BEACHES YOU COULD EVER SEE, GREAT DIVING SPOTS, AFFORDABLE INNS, LODGING HOUSES FOR YOU TO STAY IN. 3. SIARGAO IN SURIGAO DEL NORTE - GREAT VIEWS FOR NATURE LOVERS, BEACHES, GREAT PEOPLE, EXCELLENT PINOY DELICACIES PLUS IT IS LESS EXPLORED BY TOURISTS SO YOU CAN ENJOY MORE UNLIKE IN CEBU OR DAVAO OR BORACAY IN AKLAN. TOO CROWDED IN THOSE SPOTS. BUT YOU CAN VISIT THOSE ISLANDS/PLACES TOO.. EVERY PLACE IN THE PHILIPPINES IS UNIQUE. YOU WILL WISH TO STAY MUCH LONGER. =) ENJOY!

If I will be the one who will be traveling by Boat... I will go on Superferry from Manila to Cebu.. then in cebu you can drive around the Island and visit the scenic beauty of the Island, you can go to the Top which is the highest peak of Cebu where you can see 360 degrees of view of the island then visit the famous Taoist Temple feel the serenity.. and if you wanna go to the beach its all easy access 20 minutes from the city presto you at the beach... and if your done in your drive around cebu hop in to a super cat to go to either Bohol to see the world smallest and endangered monkeys called the Tarsier and dont forget to try the Loboc river cruise... you gonna love to be serenade while having lunch and heading to the falls where you can jump in and swim after than what about a hike to the world famous Chocolate hills, then after Bohol jump to another supercat to go to Dumaguete and try scuba diving or enjoy the local nightspots and experience the mile long Baywalk BBQ.. its fun then if you still feel like getting to know the heritage and stories of Siquijor, to see the Asia's Biggest and oldest Convent, The Lagoons, the crystal clear and uncommercialized powder white sand beaches or do some spelunking and visit their famous Cantabon Cave... you will be amazed... if you need information for this places and adventures... just email me at email@example.com
