Golfer's Paradise

Description:

Spain’s southern coast around Marbella is called the Costa del Sol (sunny coast), and this area is true to its name, with a very high number of sunny days each year that make it an extremely popular spot for tourists. Moreover, Marbella’s privileged situation on the Mediterranean with the sierra (mountains) to the north and views of Africa’s northern coast on a clear day make it a particularly beautiful spot to go golfing.

If the purpose of your trip is golfing and you’ll be traveling with a family or group of people of all ages, this guide recommends our top activities around Marbella for those both on and off the greens.

We’ve chosen Marriott’s Marbella Beach Resort because it’s well-suited for families, however if you’re not traveling with kids or on a romantic getaway, the Marbella Club Hotel would be more convenient, as it works together with the Marbella Golf and Country Club, where you’ll be golfing. Both hotels have restaurants where you can eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, however we’ve included a number of the area’s best restaurants in this itinerary. The Marriott is located on the beach outside of the center of the city, and getting around the area is easy if you rent a car or don’t mind taking a taxi—most attractions and restaurants are just a 5 to ten minute drive away.

Day 2 - Marbella

You could eat breakfast at the hotel, but if you feel like a change of scenery, go into town to a popular restaurant called Love to Eat. Next, it’s time to go golfing! Depending on how many in your group enjoy the sport, you have a number of options. Marbella Golf and Country Club has golfing activities for children in addition to a tennis club and wellness center. For an entirely new adventure, check out Funny Beach, an amusement park with endless entertainment for young travelers. At night, you’ll dine at Calima, a restaurant many consider the best in Marbella. Afterward, go to Flamenco Ana María, a club with a typical Andalusian feel that has live flamenco shows.

Day 3 - Marbella

If you haven’t already, today’s a good morning to enjoy breakfast at the elegant MC Café before golfing. If the kids are golfing or playing at the hotel, we recommend Buddha Beach for any older members of the group who want to be pampered on the beach and are looking for a change of scenery. Located a to the west of the city in Puerto Banus, Buddha Beach is a secluded, exclusive place to work on your Mediterranean tan. You can enjoy cocktails and eat lunch a their restaurant, and they also offer spa treatments. At night, you’ll enjoy some of the best Italian cuisine in the area at Villa Tiberio.
