Romance and Leisure in Marbella

Description:

Thousands of couples flock to the Costa del Sol to be spoiled with the luxury that Marbella has to offer. This is one of the most popular vacation spots in Spain and among the most posh resort destinations on the Mediterranean. It’s no surprise that you’ll find the best of the best here in everything you do—with excellent spas, beautiful beaches, and award-winning restaurants, Marbella is the definition of “leisure destination.”

We’ve planned four days of sun and sand that balance relaxation with a healthy dose of outdoor activities. The landscape around Marbella is gorgeous, making it a golfer’s playground. The Marbella Golf and Country Club has a prestigious reputation, and even if you’re not the golfing type, there’s a tennis and fitness club, riding stables, and a first-class spa. If you’re looking to get out on the water, the Academia Escuela Nautica Deportiva de Marbella offers sailing lessons and trips around Marbella Bay.

Pamper yourself on your first and last days by visiting two of the area’s luxury beachfront venues, Buddha Beach and Purobeach Marbella. Located in Puerto Banus and Estepona, respectively, these chic spots were built for indulgence. You’ll get away from the city and have no trouble relaxing—choose from private beach beds, V.I.P. jacuzzis, and spa treatments for a relaxing afternoon complete with a cocktails and a picturesque Mediterranean sunset as the evening sets in.

While in the city itself, stroll down Avenida Ricardo Soriano, where you’ll find upscale boutiques and well-respected jewelers. If you’re on a tight schedule or budget, this probably isn’t where you want to take your lady—she might get lost trying on endless pairs of shoes.

It would be a sin to visit Marbella without paying a visit to the restaurants included in this guide—most notably Messina and La Hacienda. Outstanding gastronomy, attentive customer service, and romantic settings make these restaurants ideal for an intimate dining experience. With so many impressive restaurants in Marbella, it was difficult to choose—perhaps you’ll want to check out our list of the Top Ten five star restaurants in Marbella and decide for yourself. Grab a freshly baked pastry or empanada for breakfast at any local panadería or pastelería (bakeries) on your walk through the old town to Vinacoteca La Cartuja. This classy wine store has over one thousand bottles of wine and a tasting room where you can try before you buy. If you haven’t found souvenirs for family and friends, a nice bottle of Rioja always does the trick.
