The Best of NileGuide

When planning a trip to the Red City, choosing a hotel should certainly not be something left to last minute haphazardness; there is a mindboggling array of places to stay in Marrakesh, and picking the right one can ensure your stay to be a truly magical experience. No matter what your preference, when deciding upon location, the old part of town is a definite must, as it allows walking distance accessibility to all of the local monuments, best restaurants, the main square and the shopping centers.
Although days may be spent dodging a donkey cart and escaping the jaunts of street sellers down dusty alleyways, luxury abounds when it comes to Marrakesh accommodation options. The city is undoubtedly a place gripped by imagination, and this is reflected in the amazing authenticity of the luxury Riads on offer, each one unique and distinctive, but all promising a truly memorable stay. The Riad scene has been developed to such an extent in recent years that the most superior Riads are now entire complexes, which can compose of restaurants, spas, courtyards and rooftop bars. Be warned: such a place can turn many adventurous explorers into a complacent spa dwellers, happy to spend their whole visits just being wined, dined and pampered within the tranquility of their Riads' four walls.
Of course, the only set back of a luxury Riad is the cost, and many can be pricey for travelers on more of a budget. Luckily, alternatives are available in the form of more midrange hotels and backpacking 'Riad hostels'. Riad Zitoune youth hostel is a great option; an old building which has been maintained in accordance with local traditions and tastes, yet offering an affordable night stay. It is only a few minutes' walk away from the main square, and is in easy access of all the main historical monuments. For those who are looking for more practical places to stay, there are less embellished hotels on offer, that are simple and family friendly. Le Caspien is a pleasant and no nonsense choice, which is perfect for professionals staying in town. The Staff are friendly and helpful, and an adjoining restaurant offers some good Moroccan cuisine.
