Le Ventre de l'Architect

Description:

  • With a westward-facing view of the sea and the setting sun, this is the restaurant of the hotel that occupies a building which, when designed by Le Corbusier between 1952 and 1954, was considered one of the most revolutionary designs in Europe. You'll benefit from both an architecturally historic setting and menu items which are creative, imaginative, and -- if you understand a bit of French -- described in ways that would have pleased a 19th-century Impressionistic poet. Examples include cream of pumpkin soup; a "pillow" of foie gras "draped" with slices of Serrano ham; a "waltz" of jumbo shrimp with scallops, served with pink risotto; beef medallions "rolled together" with cured ham and served with "herbs from the chef's garden"; and veal chops with braised endives and a purée of violets.
