- While the only performers who make a decent living on the islands are Hawaiian or Polynesian, Maui singers and actors are offered some opportunities to perform (albeit without pay) through this theater group. Performances can be quite entertaining, though they are not usually on a par with anything you'll see in a major city. Especially worth seeing are the regularly staged Hawaiian-themed productions, often written by local playwrights and featuring talented Hawaiian musicians or dramatists. MCT presents four-five shows weekly in the historic Iao Theater. Call for information on upcoming shows.
