  • The Best of NileGuide
  • You can search and search online to find some of the best insider tips for "little known" activities to do while on Maui. A popular book by the name of "Maui Revealed" offers some great advice on charming Maui destinations that visitors to Maui often miss. We have also put together a list.

The Tedeschi Winery, located in the remote upcountry town of Ulupalakua, is a great hidden gem. Free tours of the winery are offered daily, as are free samplings. The grounds are quite significant, as they used to be the vacation spot for ancient Hawaiian Kings visiting the island. Tour an onsite museum and gift store. While upcountry, explore the town of Makawao, the octagon-shaped Holy Ghost Church, Ulupalakua Ranch General Store (where you can enjoy elk burgers), and Rice Park.

A road trip out to Hana should also be on your itinerary if looking to see attractions off the beaten track. Make stops at Twin Falls, the Seven Sacred Pools, the Hana Lava Tube, and the black sand beaches of Wai'anapanapa State Park. Stop for snacks at Hasegawa's General Store to see where the locals in Hana shop.
