Haleakala Crater Bike Tour

• Your Haleakala Crater Bike Tour begins with collection from your Maui hotel. On the way to the summit of Haleakala, your certified tour guide will give you a history of the area, its geology and ecology, including the rare plants and animals only found on Maui. Upon arrival at the House of the Sun Visitors Center, you will be escorted by mountain guides to the rim of the Crater to see the worlds largest dormant volcano. If you choose the "Sunrise" option, you will be at Haleakala Crater to see the spectacular sunrise.

  The Haleakala Crater Bike Tour continues to the 6,800 ft level of Haleakala where you begin the 28 mile bike ride down the slopes, through the switchbacks and to Haleakala Ranch.

  On the "Sunrise option you will stop in the historic town of Makawao followed by a walking tour of the 1900 vintage community. On the later departures you will stop at Sunrise Market and Protea Farm for a sit-down lunch and tour of the flower farm.

  Continue your bike ride through Pukalani and Makawao, coasting through sugar canes and pineapple fields, continuing down to the Pacific Ocean and ending in Paia Beach Park. All equipment hire is included such as gloves, helmet, windbreaker pants and jacket, and of course use of a volcano chrome cruiser bike. This tour is not suitable for beginners, pregnant women and those with serious health issues.

  Self-Paced option:
  If you prefer to bike at your own pace, you may prefer the "Self-Paced" option. You will meet your tour guide and be transported to the summit, enjoying a continental breakfast (hot coffee, juice and pastries) served enroute. There will be a brief tour of the House of the Sun Visitor Center and Haleakala Visitor Center. Continue to the 6,800 ft level of Haleakala where you begin the unescorted 28 mile bike ride down the slopes, free to travel at your own pace. Shuttle departures to Maui Marketplace operate from Paia Beach Park at 1:30pm, 2:00pm and 2:30pm.
