Description:

  • The Iao Needle is a natural landmark found in Iao Valley State Park.  The state park is free to enter but will cost you about $5 to park.

Once inside the state park, you will walk across bridges and paved pathways, climbing in elevation until your reach a scenic lookout overlooking a giant pillar of land known as the Iao Needle. Once photographing the strange looking landmark, continue walking the paved trails and pass ancient Hawaiian taro fields, a meandering river, and collections of native plants. If you don't have the time to make it out to Hana, Iao Valley presents a great alternative to the natural unadulterated landscape of Maui.
