The main area of Makena State Park, where the aging "hippies" celebrate every Sunday.

  • Description:

    • Big Beach lies on the southern shoreline of East Maui. It is an undeveloped site with a wide, white sand beach that extends for more than a mile. The beach slopes steeply into the water and lies on open ocean. These attributes together can make for dangerous swimming and water activity conditions. A cinder cone, Puu Olai, lies at the northern end of the beach and provides an interesting formation to explore.
