Description:
One might think what more is there to say about golf on Maui than Kapalua. True Kapalua is the apex of Maui courses with an annual tournament that demands international attention in January of each year. The experience of Kapalua is certainly one not to be missed if you are an avid golfer looking to experience that one in a lifetime round. However, Maui has many other courses that should not overlooked, Here are my choices for the top 5 holes on the Valley Isle.Kapalua Bay Course #5 – this 205 yard par 3 is what every golfer wants to experience. The Bay course is simply a spectacular course much different then her sister course the Plantation course. Views of Lanai in the distance and tee shot over the ocean onto a well bunkered and impeccable green. Wailea Gold Course #8 – It’s a 216 yard par 3 with great views and a refreshing short hole just after a demanding par 5, this hole offers a well bunkered sloping green. Aim for Molokini is the tip and watch the wind.Makena North Course - #14 North course is a wonderful alternative to the other resort courses offering four tees and wonderful sunny play on a tight undulating course with narrow fairways. This downhill dogleg offers a tiny bunkered green along with wonderful views.Kapalua Plantation Course #18 – 663 yard par 5 is the course clincher. Plantation course is the sister tournament course to the Bay Course at Kapalua. The Plantation course offers challenging play woven through pineapple fields complete with gorgeous ocean views. The #18 is the best and the last of all. Aim for Lanai and let it rip downhill. It will defeat you or elate you.Maui Lani Dunes #18 – A wonderful finishing hole, this 588 yard par 5 is challenging. Maui’s newest and most centrally located course, Maui Lani offers sunny breezy play at a course that is friendly, enjoyable and reasonably priced. The #18 has a huge lake and a green that makes ill hit drives roll in the water.

Description:
North Course, another 18-holes of championship golf designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Opened in 1993, the North Course goes out of its way to make golfers feel at one with their natural surroundings. There are no distractions on this course-unless you considered the unobstructed views of the blue pacific, neighboring islands, and humpback whales breaching during whale season to be a bit distracting. In fact, to make it feel more like a nature walk and less like a golf course, even cart paths on the North Course are tucked away and hidden from view. You will have some obstacles to overcome, however. And as an added bonus to save golfers some time looking for lost balls, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed most fairway so that everything slopes back towards the center

Our Local Expert Says:
Upscale course in the center of Maui, where greens fees are more reasonable than at the resorts ($65 - $110). Good food in the clubhouse.
Description:
This course located in central Maui has been written up in famous publications such as Golf & Travel and Golf Digest. Many tourists visiting the island often miss the opportunity to play the course, because they tend to play courses that are closer to their resort towns of Wailea and Ka'anapali.
The Dunes at Maui Lani resembles courses you will find in Scotland, which is unusual for courses on Maui, which tend to be more tropical. The Dunes features long fairways, though sand traps, and a couple beautiful water hazards. After completing your round, grab a bite to eat in the club house as you overlook the 18th green.
