Located in the heart of El Poblado, traditionally the trendiest part of Medellin, is the Hotel Arte (or Art Hotel). The interior design of the entry and reception area touches on the industrial or brutalistic, with a heavy emphasis on exposed brickwork and polished concrete. With 54 rooms it is hard to understand the concept of calling this hotel a "boutique", but the efforts made to make this original and artsy are wonderful. Local and international artists are invited to exhibit in the common areas and there is even an art-house cinema on site with a capacity of 40 people open to the public. The hotel will have other proprietors reaching for their cheque books, as there is a conscious - if not mildly pretentious - effort to make the Art Hotel the hippest and most innovative digs in Medellin. The rooms leave nothing to be desired in terms of comfort and amenities, and if you are in town on a hedonistic jaunt you'll not be disappointed since the Art Hotel is in the heart of the Zona Rosa right next to the famous Parque Lleras.
