- Popular with nearby hospital staff (yes nurses) Gertrude Brown Couch is a cozy little bar, that is an ideal meeting place just outside of the CBD. The tiny beer garden is nice on warmer days and the laneway access that only the locals know about is a nice touch. Especially if in need of a quick getaway. Some nights bands will play in the front bar, though upstairs is the main band room and is also used for comedy and festival performances. Their new menu is worthy of a bite (try the parma) and if you say "mates rates" at the bar you can get the Tuesday to Friday happy hour. Overall a good option right after work before moving on.
