Black Cat (The)

Description:

  • This much-loved local institution was one of Melbourne's first bohemian street cafes influencing pretty much everything that followed on Brunswick Street! The walls are plastered with notices for African dance classes, lectures on world socialism, advertisements for flat-mates and other paraphernalia. There are also newspapers and magazines to read if you are waiting for a friend, or having a coffee alone. On a sunny day, sit outside in the little garden "courtyard" that offers a view of the passing parade plus shade and greenery - the best of both worlds! Coffees, cakes and snacks are served by friendly staff.
