Wilsons Promontory National Park

Description:

  • Affectionately known as "the prom", Wilsons Promontory National Park lies at the southernmost tip of the Australian mainland. It is arguably the most popular park in Victoria (approximately 2 hours from Melbourne), and it is here that you get the best of everything this diverse state has to offer in one concentrated place: ocean beaches, rain forest, fern gullies, mountains, and a host of wildlife at your fingertips. You will need to book cabins and campsites well in advance during the busy summer months, but the wait is worth it, with a bevy of both day hikes and overnight back country trips through this unspoiled paradise. Tidal River (30kms into the park) is the main hub with a general store, information center, outdoor cinema, and cafĂ©.
