Lichterman Nature Center

• Often overlooked by tourists, this well-maintained, wooded nature preserve in the heart of East Memphis is one of Memphis' most family-friendly attractions. Open year-round, the center offers hiking trails, scientific demonstrations, and other hands-on activities on 65 acres and within its museum-like Backyard Wildlife Center. With a grassy meadow and lake as well as woods, there are plenty of educational opportunities for learning about various wildlife habitats. Lichterman is part of the Memphis Museum System, which also includes the Pink Palace and other sites.
