Maria Serena (à Menton)

• The estate of Maria Serena is the last building on the French side of the Franco-Italian coastline. Although this fact makes for interesting trivia, the villa is also in and of itself an attractive example of a nineteenth-century winter home. Although today the Maria Serena estate is owned by the town of Menton (thirty kilometers outside of Nice), the gardens, filled with gorgeous tropical flowers, are open to the public. Guided tours on Tuesdays.
