For dessert, order the Mayan Coffee, a sweet, hot beverage that is poured into your cup by a waiter standing high on a chair or the bar!

Description:

Many tourists and some locals choose Pancho's for a leisurely dinner because of its central location in downtown Merida, above average food, and entertaining atmosphere. Don't be scared away from this good restaurant, though, because chef Armando Morales serves well-prepared steaks, chicken, and salads in generous portions. Popular choices are the Angus Hamburger and the Cowboy Steak, which is so big that you may have to take half of it home in a doggie bag. The English-speaking waiters know their tricks, too: it's fun to watch them finesse tableside flambé entrees and flaming Mayan coffee. The family that owns Pancho's also operates some of Merida's finest restaurants: Trotter's, Bryan's, and La Trotto. It's best to avoid the early crowd of tourists and head upstairs at sunset to the rooftop terrace. It is a hideaway unusual in downtown Mérida, candlelit with soft, live music and views of the Church of Jesus.
