• Would any city's gay nightlife be complete without at least one bar called The Eagle or Tom's? Mexico City has Tom's Leather Bar, a somewhat surreal combination of Gothic-style dungeon and post-apocalypse version of the traditional Mexican men-only cantina. With tall arches, eagle shields, and fake candelabra, the bar's style is a self-described mix of "quality and mystery." Most guys in the usually over-30, masculine crowd wear plain old jeans and T-shirts but a few are decked out in full leather gear. Tom's is perhaps best known for its constant stream of sexy dancers who – this being Mexico City – strip down to nothing on top of the bar (tips in their boots are always welcome). Take care when walking through the dark back room to the restroom: there's lots of action here and, unfortunately, that can include pickpockets. Tom's is close to Red Tree House B&B and Hookah Lounge.
