The Best of NileGuide
-
Mexico City's best hotels are large and small, expensive and cheap, located right in the Historic Center or along the picturesque streets of Condesa. In other words, the Top Ten Hotels in Mexico's capital run the gamut of size, price, and location. Among the over 500 hotels that NileGuide considers worthy of your hard-earned cash, there are a few standouts.
My #1 Pick: The Red Tree House is a 12-room B&B perfectly located on a quiet street in Condesa. Contented guests return again and again to enjoy the hospitality of ever-present and charming hosts, Craig and Jorge.
As befits one of the world's most important cities, a number of luxury "five-star" hotels compete for prominence but, for me, The Four Seasons still comes out on top and ranks #4 on my list. The understated elegance of this neo-colonial property on Paseo de la Reforma offers easy access to Chapultepec Park.
The Polanco neighborhood is popular with international travelers for its safety, exclusive shopping and first-class restaurants: Hotel Habita on Ave. Masaryk is sleek, contemporary, and #8 of the Top Ten.
#5 Hotel Catedral offers great value for the price and the location can't be beat: right in the Historic Center near the Zocalo and Metropolitan Cathedral.
If you are staying, for a week or longer, head straight to Casa Tarami, which completes this list as #10. The furnished studio apartments are carefully tended and especially prized by employees of the nearby US, British, and Japanese Embassy.
