Kid-friendly Things to Do in Mexico City

  • The Best of NileGuide
  • It's a lucky kid whose parents take him or her on a trip to Mexico City. But, as with any big city, there's a lot of walking and subway riding involved and this can be tough on little feet and emotions. Let your child plan at least one of your days in Mexico's capital by choosing from the Top Ten Kid-Friendly Things to Do in Mexico City.

The #1 choice has to be Chapultepec Park, which sprawls across central Mexico City. Kids can run wild along the tree-shaded paths with no fear of disturbing the neighboring guests in your hotel. Other popular past-times in Chapultepec are the zoo, paddle boats on the lake, and the little train that takes families up the long hill to Chapultepec Castle. Wait - there's a castle, too?

The Papalote Museo del Niño, or Children's Museum, is an obvious choice at #2. It's in Chapultepec's 2nd Section, a taxi ride away from the main area, which is why it is listed separately here. Exhibits are interactive - the main reason why this museum is so much fun for both kids and parents. The IMAX theater gives moms and dads a chance to relax for a few minutes.

Next door to Papalote, is #3 on the list: Feria Chapultepec Mágico - the Chapultepec Magical Fair. It's a traditional amusement park with over 50 rides include roller coasters. By the way, the word in Spanish for roller coaster is Montana Rusa, or Russian Mountain.
